Perception is what drives behaviour, not the truth!
Perception is the interpretation of truth by each individual. Our personality, beliefs, attitudes, background and predilections act as a complex lens system through which we edit, distort, accentuate and filter all stimuli that come our way. This nbuilt system converts the data or truth into perceptions that we truly believe in. Therefore a wide gap exists between the truth or fact and our perception of that truth or fact. However, it is perception that drives our behaviour. That creates plenty of misunderstandings in our day to day life.
Just as a magician creates an illusion that covers the truth, perception converts the truth into an incomplete understanding of reality. That fuels our behaviour, communication and beliefs. Two people can see the same stimulus or fact or situation and perceive them entirely differently. Its only a deep commitment to communication and clarification that can converge people onto a common understanding. If we can understand that no one is right or wrong and each is just different then we can begin to build lifelong relationships. Perceptions can then become unifying and harmonizing factors.
